How is this different than other business books?

This is the first tool for entrepreneurs that has nothing to do with business, but everything to do with the personal journey one must go on in order to successfully take the leap. It's interactive and designed for self-exploration.

Most business tools skip the hardest part entirely. This one starts there.

How long does it take to finish?

Some people complete it quickly, others take their time. If you complete a couple of prompts each day, you can complete this journal in roughly one month.

Why was Employee to Entrepreneur created?

Because Jana kept watching capable, driven people stay stuck not from lack of skill, but from fear and self-doubt. This journal is the tool she wished existed.

Jana Boyko, a business coach, has helped hundreds become entrepreneurs. She’s seen firsthand that what holds people back isn’t a lack of skills, it’s getting in their own way. This journal will help you build confidence and overcome fear.

So Motivating and Beautiful ✨

I could not be more in love with Jana's prompts. 💕 The way she gently guides you to reflect, makes the process of creating a business exciting and precious, and helps us break down the steps to actually get there...it's magical. Anchoring each step in her own experiences and stories, you really feel like you're not alone on the journey, and that someone else is going through all the ups and downs with you. Beautifully crafted, both physically and in its ideas. The kind of thing you WANT to pick up when you see it on your bedside table. ✨

As described

I’m excited to use this book. It provides some insightful information and I love that it provides a guide so I can learn more about being my own boss. The quality of the book is great, I just love that the front cover is fabric/linen. There’s also enough writing space for jotting notes so it’s both functional and practical.

A genuine and inspiring guide for aspiring entrepreneurs!

I loved Employee to Entrepreneur!! This journal helped me visualize my future venture so well it felt like I was actually there. From the very beginning, Jana’s personal story made me feel seen and supported. The pace felt gentle and encouraging, and the exercises flowed so naturally that it was easy for me to stay engaged. Writing in it felt like reading a great book I didn't want to put down!

I liked how approachable it is. I didn’t need to have my business idea figured out to start, and that took so much pressure off. The exercises helped me really visualize where I want to go as an entrepreneur, and how it will feel when I get there. Where I'd usually be procrastinating to avoid another thing on my to-do list, I'm inspired and actually looking forward to my next writing session.

Workbook

I haven’t read this yet, but flipping through, most of it is blank pages like the photo. It looks like a decent workbook if you want to think through and write down your goals. But I wouldn’t expect this to give much practical instruction.

Just What I Needed

When a book like this enters into the world, it has the opportunity to really change people's lives. I think this is a book that can seriously do that.

Unlike many traditional business and self-help books, which simply tell you what you should do, this book is a journal that helps you to think through your own situation and develop ideas of how you can become the kind of person who can succeed as an entrepreneur.

Really, that's what so many of us need. We've been told a lot of times that we should work for ourselves, but we aren't sure how to start. This book breaks down the necessary steps and necessary character traits for success.

Not only that, but the book is beautiful and well-edited (in other words, it's not full of typos). It's even got a little built-in bookmark so that you can work through it daily (see photo). I'm highly impressed.

Worth the money!

Wow, this book is so good! I intended to give this to someone as a gift, but once I had it in my hands, I couldn't let it go. It is made with care having canvas covers, a 3D imprinted title, an attached book mark ribbon, a removable paper book ribbon jacket and stocked full with good content. The size is perfect to throw in most purses and take with you on the go or put in a bedside drawer. This is great for anyone who has read all of the entrepreneur books and "knows" all of the things, but is still having trouble making the leap. It covers all of the possible blocks that could be stopping you, including fear, identity, needs, etc. The prompts fall in line with many common manifestation techniques which train you on how to embody your future self now. It's really a guided workbook, with just a simple daily prompt, not a lot of distracting side questions, unnecessary past reflection questions or busy work. I just can't say enough about the quality about the prompts and the forward thinking movement you could make with them. Well worth the money. Thank you for making such a quality book on this topic! They are not so easy to find nowadays, with everyone doing it.

Thoughtful guided journal for shifting into an entrepreneurial mindset

This is a really thoughtful and well-structured journal for anyone navigating the transition from employee to entrepreneur. I especially appreciated the overall flow of the prompts and the level of self-exploration encouraged throughout the process. It does a good job helping you start recognizing and shifting the mindset patterns that keep you stuck in “employee mentality” while building a more entrepreneurial perspective. The prompts feel intentional without being overwhelming, and the guided structure makes the process approachable and motivating.Physically, the book is also nicely designed. I appreciated that the price sticker removed easily from the cloth hardback cover without damaging it, which is a small detail but makes a difference. The attached cloth bookmark is another nice touch that makes it easy to pick back up where you left off.One thing I noticed is that the binding feels a little loose, though it hasn’t affected usability so far.Overall, this is a valuable journal for reflection, mindset work, and career transition planning, especially for professionals considering entrepreneurship.

Employee to Entrepreneur — thoughtful guided journal, but perfectionism can stall it

I recently took a business class with a local business center, and the prompts/questions in this guided journal are very similar to what we worked through in that class. In fact, the questions are more thorough. That felt like a meaningful thumbs-up—these aren’t random “inspo” prompts, they’re the kind of practical questions that actually move you toward clarifying a business idea.

The catch (for me) is the format: because it’s a book, I found myself not wanting to write anything down until it was “perfect,” which slowed me down. I think this will be most useful if you can treat it like a first draft and commit to using it as “just a journal,” like the title says, rather than a polished final plan. But, if a book is the format you want, I don't think you could do better.

Nice approach to entrepreneurship

The authors, Jana and Brad Boyko, provide a roadmap to entrepreneurship through individual introspection, visualization, and self-awareness and insight. They purport those individuals can do this by examining 6 steps along their journey, namely, Desire, Identity, Fear, Needs, Transition, and Self Care. They suggest that by journaling and following this train of thought, you will be able to progress and follow your own individualized path into entrepreneurship. This is not a long, drawn-out read, but rather an easy to use tool to take stock of your aspirations and realistic expectations along the journey from employment to entrepreneurship.
As a professor of Business Administration, I agree with the authors in that not enough people who set out to follow their entrepreneurial aspirations really consider these aspects. Entrepreneurship is not just about leaping into a new opportunity; rather, it is a lifestyle and a decision not to jump into blindly or with unrealistic expectations. I think this approach is reasonable, sensible, and has a good chance of fostering success if the reader takes these journaling exercises seriously.
Aside from the contents, the physical book itself is of good quality and would present as a nice addition to any bookshelf or library. I recommend this book as it can be valuable for any aspiring entrepreneur.

Well made journal but some prompts were cheesy

This journal is really well made and quite beautiful. I was looking forward to the prompts to help with starting a business. It does seem to steer more towards the cheesy touchy feely stuff rather than the practical though which is not quite what I was looking for. This is well suited to someone who just needs to put themselves in the right mindset or find their own motivation. If you already have the motivation and the mindset it may be a bit less useful. I did find the price a little high for the size of the journal and the value does not quite match the cost for me in that regard. 4 stars

Prompt Journal

There are a lot of different types of books that are designed to help you walk through the process of starting a business. This particular one is designed to help you walk through the steps by having you work through a series of prompts. This style of navigating the process won't work for everyone, but I found the different prompts useful and thought-provoking.

The journal's overall quality was also good. I like how the journal was bound so the pages lay flat while writing. This small choice made it easier to write in. They also provide plenty of room to respond to each of the prompts as it lets each of the answers breathe a bit.

A Thoughtful, Guided Companion...

This journal is beautifully made; sturdy, elegant, and thoughtfully designed. It feels more like a personal coach in book form than just a notebook. The layout walks you through each stage of transition, from desire and fear to self-care and action, helping you reflect deeply and map out your next moves with clarity.

The prompts are meaningful and well-paced, encouraging honest self-assessment and goal setting without feeling overwhelming. I especially love the inspirational quotes sprinkled throughout...they can/will keep me motivated and grounded in purpose.

Overall, this is a great tool for anyone navigating that tricky in-between space of wanting to leave the 9-to-5 and step into something more fulfilling. It’s a true handhold for dreamers ready to become doers.

Introspective!

First thing I noticed was the quality and aesthetic of this journal. It’s beautiful and could be left out and would add to one’s decor. When it comes to actual use this is a great journal and it has a very introspective style. It’s set up to help you organize your thoughts and goals and put them into action. I think this journal is going to be very helpful in motivating me to stay on task and to figure out how to bring my ambitions to life and to encourage me to pursue success.

Not your typical self-help book - it's better!

I've always had a desire to be an entrepreneur and have made several attempts at it over my lifetime. Some were failures and others were somewhat successful. When I saw this book advertised on Amazon, I decided to order it to see if it had insightful information that would help me on another entrepreneurial journey.

This book is not your typical self-help book -- it's better. It is divided into sections that have introductory information and then take you on a deep inward dive for each topic where you write down (journal) YOUR answers to the section's questions. This helps you to understand what motivates YOU, what YOU want out of being an entrepreneur, and so on. By the time you complete the last section, you should have a good plan customized for YOU that allows you to transition from employee to entrepreneur and confidently move forward on your journey.

The book is written in English, its 200 pages are beautifully hardbound, and it is well-crafted and sturdily constructed to last for many years.

Inspiring without being cheesy

I was worried this book would be really cheesy and social media post-sounding, but I’ve actually found it pretty inspiring! Obviously I haven’t reached the end yet but so far I’ve enjoyed the prompts and found them thoughtful and helpful. I’m not ready to take the full leap away from my desk job yet, but this book is helping me develop a plan to make the switch while helping me figure out what I really want from my own business. It’s very lightweight, and fits easy in my purse. Plus the binding is strong.

Love This Journal

I just received this journal, and I’m already impressed by how nice it looks. The light blue hardcover is beautiful, and the layout inside is clean and inspiring. Even though I haven’t started writing in it yet, I’ve flipped through the pages, and it’s full of thoughtful prompts and exercises that seem designed to really help with mindset and goal setting. I’m looking forward to diving into it soon and using it as part of my career development routine.
